| On the
above mentioned 1968 Chrysler V-8 engines the pushrods have
a 5/16" spherical diameter on each end, and can be installed
into the hydraulic lifter from either end.
On
previous models it was necessary on installation of the pushrod
that the large end mated with the rocker arm and the smaller
end with the hydraulic lifter.

To prevent
a premature engine failure due to a bent or distorted pushrod,
precautions should be taken when installing the push rods to
see that they are properly seated in the tappet plunger caps.
If a pushrod is not properly seated it can cause the pushrod
to hang up on the top surface of the plunger cap on the edge
of the tappet, and when the rocker arm shaft is torqued down
in place, or when the engine is initially started, it can cause
the pushrod to bend or distort. |
